Chinese Student from Chengdu Sings Praises of Informatics

Paul Li Shi Wei, a recent graduate from Informatics Singapore, who is currently working in Singapore has praises to sing of his education not only with Informatics Singapore but also Informatics Chengdu in China.

He was keen to acquire an international qualification from a reputable institute but did not want to follow the usual route to higher education in China as its teaching style is very textbook based just like any other school.  Through his own research, he found Informatics to be very unique as the students are more knowledgeable and there is a lot of logical and critical thinking involved.

Paul completed his Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Business Administration in Informatics Chengdu in 2 years before heading to Singapore to complete his Bachelor (Hons) of Business Administration (Marketing) by University of Portsmouth.  The international academic pathway by Informatics made it fast and easy for him for me to get an internationally recognised degree he wanted as compared to the typical academic pathway in China, which is 4 years to complete your studies, of which 3 years is for a diploma and 1 year is for a degree.

Text Box: “My total learning experience with Informatics is meaningful and fruitful as the institute is able to offer international qualifications. The benefit of a diploma from Informatics Academy is its credit transfers to universities from Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA and Canada. The courses offered are more interesting and popular like Business and IT. Also, the teaching style is very different from China as Informatics has a lot of practical sessions and their teaching allows a lot of creative thinking. He also noticed that the students of Informatics are more efficient and quick thinking as compared to other students,” said Paul.

“I enjoyed studying marketing in Singapore as most of the textbooks available are varied and up-to-date and mostly from USA.  It is very different from when I was studying for my diploma in Chengdu.  The textbooks for my UOP course gave me very useful insights to learn about US and other developing countries,” added Paul.

Paul enjoys Singapore’s culture and enjoys studying in Singapore due to its international education system and exposure to a multi-culture environment.  He is also impressed with the lecturers’ style of teaching and enjoys doing projects and assignments as part of his studies.  He remarked that he would definitely recommend his friends to study at Informatics, “What I am today is because of the learning experience with Informatics. They have nurtured me to what I am today.”
