About Informatics Academy

The Informatics Academy has been institutionalized to ensure that its award, bearing the quality assurance mark, will be recognised and accepted by employers and universities for employment and transfer credit respectively.

The Informatics Academic Governance is the backbone on which the quality of our awards is judged. Collectively, the Academic Council interacts with the International Advisory Panel and thereby empowers Examination Council and Examination Board the authority to grant the Informatics Academy awards.

Represented by a group of respected and experienced academic leaders drawn from universities in the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States of America, each member of the International Advisory Panel brings with them a wide range of educational leadership and management experience. The Academic Council is responsible for the academic affairs for Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Institute of Business, Finance and Management, Institute of Engineering and Institute of Knowledge Economy.

MODULE NAME
DESCRIPTION
Principles of Business Law This unit is designed to enable students to understand the underlying principles of business laws. Students should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the law of contract and its practical application. The legal principles relating to sale of goods and customer credit, law of employment and the law of torts will also be covered.
Market Research This module demonstrates the role, purpose and scope of marketing research as an aid to improve marketing management decision making. A wide range of research tools and techniques are examined so as to apply to management marketing problems in consumer organizational contexts. Marketing research plan can also be designed through all the stages, from problem definition to managerial reporting.
Human Resource & Cross Culture Management This module provides students with a framework for understanding employment relations and management of human resources in diverse organisations, such as in the Hospitality & Tourism industry. It aims to develop students' abilities to adapt and manage an increasingly diverse and competitive business environment.
Housekeeping Management This module examines the key concepts of housekeeping management in the hospitality industry. Important topics in this module include the role of housekeeping, planning & organising, managing inventories, safety and security of the lodging property.
Global Marketing Strategy The focus of this unit is on developing global marketing strategy in the changing global tourism industry economy. The unit will introduce the students with a variety of skills that will enable them to critically evaluate and analyse the global environment, perceive the requirements of the customers, positioning of the product so as to create sustainable competitive advantage and increase profitable.
Convention & Event Management This module teaches on the important skills required as an organiser of an event, develop and execute various business plans to ensure the success of an event.
Food & Beverage Management The purpose of this course is to teach students the practical attitude, knowledge and skills needed for entry-level positions in the food and beverage area. In addition to learning the day-to-day operations expected from the food and beverages industry, students will be taught basic cost control systems, budgeting, menu planning, resource planning and restaurant floor plans.
Work Placement
Industrial Attachment The Industrial Attachment is a short-term work experience for students to have an opportunity to put into practice their skills which they have acquired into the real world workplace. This allows students to gain valuable real life experience while working under the supervision of a full time employee thus learning a variety of skills. A variety of skills that can be applied may include teamwork, analytical skills and knowledge acquired while in school.
