About
the University
The
University
of Central England in Birmingham (UCE) is one
of the country's newer universities but at the
same time it is one of the country's oldest
educational institutions, as several of its
constituent colleges were founded over one hundred
years ago. During this century or so of commitment
to Higher Education, UCE has developed a number
of distinctive features, which it is proud to
maintain. These features include:
- courses
which are designed to relate theoretical study
to real life situations, so that they combine
an academic with a vocational approach;
- strong
links with commerce and industry which promote
both near-market research activities as well
as employment opportunities for students;
- support
for innovative course design and development
which has an accent on both creativity and
professional rigour;
- a
vibrant and exciting student body, which includes
one of the largest groups of part-time students
in the country and a significant percentage
of older students;
- an
awareness of the need for appropriate teaching
and learning methods and curriculum design
both at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
- a
successful record in achieving relevant employment
for its graduates;
The
Undergraduate Computing, Business eSystem
and Technology programme (CBeST)
is a flexible, modular scheme that provides
with advanced understanding and skills in computing
and information technologies, with emphasis
on business and commercial applications.
